Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Greater London Roger Bramble visited Fayette County High School on September 26 to invite the Band to play in the New Year's Day Parade in 2009. Accompanying the Lord Lieutenant were Robert Bone, the parade's founder, and his wife Geraldine, the director of protocol for the parade. Ms. Myra Rhoden, who as a band student marched in the first London New Years Day parade in 1987, was presented with a commemorative pin.
